Planning Manager - KDO/RW/HQ00000088

Job description

Under direction from the Chief Construction Manager, performs management and overall coordination of current planning, historic preservation and special projects functions of the projects. Responsibilities include supervising and coordinating planning studies and functions performed by other professional and technical staff and coordinating with other management staff in supervising current planning function of the projects. In addition, position may also require managing special projects which could include preparation of reports and presentation of such reports and other technical material before committees.

Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

Essential Functions

Supervises current planning special studies of the current projects which include managing the preparation, presentation and implementation of current planning, historic preservation functions and special studies prepared by professional and technical planning staff.
Provides technical direction, training and support to other professionals; coordinates planning studies with consultants and contractors.

Minimum Qualifications

Sufficient education, training and/or work experience to demonstrate possession of the following knowledge, skills and abilities, which would typically be acquired through:

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to provide direction to others; interact effectively with others; write clear, concise reports; design and administer complex projects; provide in-house training of personnel; be flexible in work assignments.
  • Ability to implement projects and work with consultants/contractors.
  • Ability to maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities which may include sitting for extended periods of time and operating assigned office equipment.
  • Ability to communicate with others and to assimilate and understand information, in a manner consistent with the essential job functions.
  • Ability to operate assigned equipment.
  • Ability to make sound decisions in a manner consistent with the essential job functions.


Working Conditions

Regular field work is necessary in order to perform environmental review on all projects assigned. Work in an office environment; sustained posture in a seated position for prolonged periods of time.
