Function
Reporting
to the Principal Track Design Manager, this role will provide a comprehensive
survey and design service for track renewal, maintenance and upgrading
works to meet the technical, safety, quality and financial requirements
of the Business.
Key Accountabilities
- Produce
track surveys and designs to support track renewal and reconditioning
programmes;
- Interpret
Client requirements and provide technical advice to ensure compliance
with Corporate Standards and safety requirements for the Railway;
- Responsible
for producing track designs through liaison with;
- Signal Services Engineers
- Electrical Distribution Engineers
- Drainage Engineers
- Bridge Engineers
- Civil and Structural Engineers
- Contractors and Consultants
- Responsible
for the identification and production of concession to standards.
Skills
and Experience
Primary
requirement is the knowledge and experience of working in the Railway
industry.
Technical ability is prerequisite together with the need to be an effective
communicator.
Computer literacy is required to keep abreast of the available software
packages and limitations of their use.
General software includes Excel and Word but more specialised applications
include ITD Hallade and InRail.
Basic financial skills are required to estimate and procure designs at
the most competitive rates.
Preferably a competent CAD operator.
An emergency role which will require some working at weekends and unsociable
hours.
